Thendral is a Tamil drama serial directed by S. Kumaran. It premiered on December 7, 2009 & is being aired on weekdays on Sun TV[1][2] Thendral stars Shruthi Raj, Deepak Dinkar & Sri Vidya in the lead roles & revolves around a girl's struggle in a middle-class relatives, focusing on the importance of women's' schooling. It is of Sun TV's hit serials after Thirumathi Selvam.The story of this serial revolves around the main character Thulasi (Shruthi Raj) & her best friends, namely Deepa & Kalyani.
Thulasi's mom ran away when he was a infant & ever since Thulasi's relatives has shunned her, her brother & stepmother. The only member of the relatives that truly cares for Thulasi is her grandmother. Thulasi's only dream is to continue her studies in order to help her relatives, but she is faced with trouble in the type of Velayudham (Nizhalgal Ravi). He is a break-inspector & a thug who falls for Thulasi, not to mention he is elderly to be her brother (45 years elderly). He offers five Lakhs to Thulasi's brother in return for the marriage, often blackmailing him with it after. Despite that, her greedy brother takes it, planning on using it to pay for his son's further studies in engineering though Thulasi tops the college for her 12th Standard examinations & studies much better than him. Of work Thulasi does not need to marry but due to pressure from her brother he is forced to. Soon her marriage night arrives, but not all hope is lost, because soon Tamizharasu (played by Deepak) arrives, & the remainder of the story revolves around if he can or not save Thulasi from her marriage. Tamizharasu saves Thulasi from her marriage & helps her for her future studies.
